When we think of Cyprus as a holiday location we immediately think of the crystal clear mediterranean sea and stunning beaches. In combination with an outstanding experience in one of the most luxurious hotels in Cyprus this can be the recipe for your perfect holiday.

Today we are fortunate enough to check into the Anassa Hotel, a five star hotel close to the Akamas peninsula national park and situated in an absolutely amazing location. The distance to the next Airport in Paphos is approximately 60 km and the next town Polis is just a 5 minute drive by car.
The hotel is in a standalone location on a small hill which cascades down to the mediterranean sea and gives you a beautiful view of the beach, the sea and the surrounding mountains. Even though the beach is not a private beach you will hardly find tourists from outside the hotel here. The calmness and the serenity of this place are a direct contrast to the crowded beaches of Agia Napa or Protaras.
If you can ignore the other hotel guests you might think that it is just you and the mediterranean

sea, which is my favourite hotel set up. We just love hotels that come with a huge plot or garden around the hotel through which you can stroll and discover new corners along the way. No traffic, no noise and only surrounded by nature.
The Anassa Hotel provides exactly that feeling of exclusiveness. Situated on the north west coast of Cyprus in an elevated position you have a wonderful view over the mediterranean sea. The hotel complex consists of a main building and numerous villas that come with or without a private pool being connected by paths made of stones embedded in a beautiful garden with native plants and amazing cypress trees.
The hotel is secured by a gate and you need to speak to the reception in order to open the gate.
When arriving at the Hotel you are greeted by a representative of the hotel and the valet service is already waiting to take care of your car and your luggage.
Check in process is done in a very comfortable manner, in an area with sofas close to the

reception some cold towels and a homemade cold welcome drink. I think all hotels should switch from this „counter like“ reception desk to "office" areas with chairs or sofas for arrivals. It makes the whole process much more comfortable for the guest and probably also for the receptionist.
After this wonderfully warm welcome we were escorted to our room, a really very nice service and a way of giving the guest the attention one expects from such a hotel.

The room was a so-called “Sea View Suite”, i.e. with a view of the Mediterranean and also over the pool area. Like the rest of the hotel, the room is decorated in warm and pleasant beige tones and elegantly furnished. One highlight is certainly the two lounges that you can place in front of the windows and enjoy the sun and the view.

However, the real highlight is the view from this room from an elevated position over the Mediterranean and a large part of the hotel complex.
There is also a ceiling fan which you don't see every day, but of course the room also has air conditioning which can be adjusted accordingly.
The bathroom has a shower and a bathtub and the toilet and bidet are in a separate room.

The rooms also have a coffee machine, a minibar which is not included in the price and a huge TV, which we did not use. As a welcome gift, there is a box of hand-crocheted coasters for glasses, which come from one of the region's handicrafts, and dried fruit.
Generally speaking, the hotel does everything it can to bring guests closer to Cyprus. The gardens are home to indigenous plants, the architecture is partly reminiscent of pictures from very old Cypriot villages, the furnishings in the rooms, the room keys which hang from a pearl necklace typical of Greece and the cuisine is also dedicated to local products. The identification with country and landscape of Cyprus is one of the strengths of the hotel and makes a stay here a stay in Cyprus and not just a stay in a hotel in Cyprus.
The only thing is that the technical equipment in the rooms is not necessarily up to date. There are only a few sockets, no master switch for the light by the bed, at least we didn't find one, and few USB or USB-C outlets. The issue of “darkening options” is also solved with shutters, which you have to close before going to bed and open again when you get up. But to be honest, who does that?
The hotel also has a separate wing with fitness and spa facilities and a fairly large indoor pool.

A really beautiful outdoor pool on several levels, a swim-up bar and a beach that is not as overcrowded as the beaches in Agia Napa, various restaurants and of course our absolute favorite place, the terrace.

The Anassa Hotel offers a wonderful retreat and conveys a feeling of being far away from mass tourism. The courteous and friendly service of all the staff naturally also contributes to the fact that you can have a completely relaxed time here.
So, if you are looking for a perfect place for a quiet break on the Mediterranean, then the Anassa is just the right hotel for you to soak up the Mediterranean luxury life.
Let us sum up our stay and see what are our highlights:
Fantastic location on a hill above the mediterranean sea.
A hideaway from Mass Tourism.
Outstanding service by staff and "personal assistants".
Feeling of being in Cyprus and not in a hotel in Cyprus.
Exclusive and secluded location.
Wonderful pool landscapes and directly at the beach.
SPA and Gym available.
