The Kempinski Berchtesgaden (klick on the link to watch the video) is a luxurious hideaway in the Bavarian Alps. Located on 1.000 m altitude, the hotel has a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains of the area.

Embedded in the peaceful nature, the Kempinski offers exactly the quiet "time out" you might be looking for, with all the amenities of a 5 * luxury hotel.

128 rooms and 12 suites, a 2* Michelin restaurant among others, indoor and outdoor pool, a gym, SPA and an extensive "Activity Catalogue" are at your disposal to design your holidays just as you like.

The road to the hotel winds through the dense forest of the area and gives you a glimpse of how well hidden the resort is. Follow the road signs and you will find yourself on a plateau in front of the hotel, with the valet service right there to take care of your car, your luggage and everything you want to leave behind, before entering the hotel.

Once entered you find yourself in the huge lobby hall, which is quite unusual and more like a modern alpine lodge than one of the traditional bavarian style hotels with lots of wooden furniture, wall panels or wooden ceilings. It is just the stone walls, that makes the place a little more rustic and mixes modern elegance with natural materials.

The big fireplace at the center of the lobby with the lounge seats around it, gives you that outdoor feeling, with more luxury of course.

Together with the beautifully illuminated bar and the excellent service, you feel welcome and cozy around the fireplace.

When it comes to rooms, the hotel offers different categories but every room comes with a balcony or terrace. The views can vary, depending on the category but due to the location of the hotel, it is very quiet and peaceful in each and every room. No traffic noise or anything around than can disturb your well deserved "time out" in the nature.

The rooms are well equipped and like the lobby also very modern, not the traditionally Bavarian cottage alpine style. Bath comes with bath tub and walk in shower with seating possibility, heated towel rack and sliding door to separate it from the living area. In the bath room, you find all the amenities of a 5 star hotel and some features that go beyond that 5 star requirement e.g. the separation by milk glass doors of shower and toilet or the lighted flexible vanity mirror.

In the "living area" of the room you will find a Nespresso machine to make your morning coffee, before you start the day as well as some complimentary water.

The room size of the lowest category is 32 sqm, which is larger than many other hotel rooms but somehow the arrangement of furniture in the room is not quite perfect.

The bed is placed very close to the wall of the bathroom on one side, so the person sleeping on this side, has less space to get out of the bed. But other than that the room offers you enough space to store your clothing and luggage, a small desk for short working sessions and a small seating area with a coffee table.

In addition you find a flat screen tv, remote control, restaurant menu for room service, telephone, reading lights

The view from the hotel room is toward the mountain and the lush green forest surrounding the hotel. Since the hotel is shaped like a horseshoe, the lower categories face the other side of the hotel and the other categories face the mountain and the forest. Even if you book a lower category room, you can still enjoy a nice mountain view.

The location of the hotel makes it unique, because it is placed on a plateau where you get a 360 degrees view and therefore all rooms have this amazing view.

It also gives you that tranquility to relax and feel well surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Bavarian Alps. In order to explore the surrounding and to satisfy your sportive ambitions, the hotel offers and extensive activity catalogue from which to chose. From alpine walking to climbing, mountain bike tours or skiing you will find just what you would like to experience.

If you are not too much into outdoor sports or the weather is not exactly inviting, you can always use the hotel gym and do your workout there.

After that, the spa and the wonderful outdoor pool invite you to relax and enjoy the landscape.

That much activity makes one hungry and the hotel offers a couple of restaurants for you to chose. The "Johann Grill" Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and is also the place where the breakfast is served.

"Pur" is the 2* Michelin restaurant for fine dining and only open in the evening.

The lobby bar offers a menu which is similar to the "Johann Grill" restaurant and you can eat near the fireplace or in the library.

Whichever restaurant you chose, be prepared that it comes with a price. The menus can be found on the hotel's website.

One of the highlights is that they serve breakfast until 12 p.m., that gives you enough time to do your daily routine workout, go for a swim and then head for breakfast.
